Have you noticed how much federal government officials and members of the Obama administration want to help “protect” us. To protect us from terrorism the NSA is collecting the information about and analyzing the content of America’s communications (our phone calls, emails, texts, and posts). To protect us from terrorism, the TSA is searching toddlers and senior citizens. Now, the agencies that guard us from things other than acts of terrorism such as the EPA, National Forest Service, and FDA, want police powers. To that end, these agencies are asking for firearms and bullet-proof vests. In fact, according to a May 16th article in the Washington Times, the United States Department of Agriculture put in a request to buy ballistic vests also known as body armor, used by SWAT teams and anti-terrorist units around the world. (http://www. washingtontimes.com/news/2014/ may/16/ agriculture-department-puts-request-buy-body-armo/) Just a week before, the same agency sought “…the commercial acquisition of sub-machine guns…” equipped with 30-round magazines. However, it is just the latest department to do so. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration), the Social Security Administration, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and the U.S. Department of Education, have made similar requests earlier in the year. Will the Social Security Administration send their paramilitary unit into the homes of senior citizens who might be earning a salary while still collecting a social security check? They could be scared to death. Is the Department of Education going to dispatch a SWAT team to the residences of teachers and administrators from your school district for spending federal funds on lavish conferences, personal vacations, or, God forbid, more sports and band equipment? They’ve done it once already and the suspect no longer lived there! Will the USDA send their strike-force into the processing plant of Tyson foods or Ballpark meats for a salmonella or e-coli outbreak? The FDA has raided the businesses of raw milk producers, delicatessens, vitamin shops, and organic fruit and vegetable sellers for “unapproved” products and in the majority of cases, charges were never filed, the searches were conducted without a warrant, or the “suspects” had little money to fight back. (http://www.naturalnews .com/033280_FDA_raids_timeline.html) Is NOAA going to commit their SWAT teams to the homes of those people who accidentally spilled some fuel into an estuary? I wouldn’t put it passed them. However, that’s not the biggest problem. These agencies answer to no one but the president of the United States or the attorney general! Have you heard about the child in Georgia who was severely injured when a flash grenade exploded in her crib during a drug raid? (http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/nation/2014/05/30/toddler-injured-police-raid-grenade/9792279/) Don’t think this won’t happen again just because a federal agency is involved. It’s time to end this, dare I say it, criminal behavior and potential police state!
